Project Overview

OAC was retained by the General Services Administration to provide construction management services in support of the design and construction of the new U.S. Courthouse, located in Billings, Montana. The courthouse houses the U.S. District Court, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Probation, U.S. Marshals Service and General Services Administration.

Using a design-build approach, the Project Team collaborated with the building Tenants through the design and construction phases. Ground Breaking was October 15, 2010 and substantial completion and occupancy was achieved on July 15, 2012. The building includes courtrooms, judges’ chambers, and office and public spaces to serve the Court’s 10-year requirement through 2020.

This landmark building supports the long-term goals for downtown Billings, by facilitating increased workforce collaboration among federal offices through the consolidation of office space. In support of working toward a new energy economy, GSA, the Project Team was committed to a new, more energy efficient public building that meets federal energy goals and all federal accessibility requirements and standards. The six-story building includes a roof garden with trees and plants, as well as an open lobby area. The 146,000-square-foot, $60 million courthouse achieved a LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
