Project Overview

On a recommendation from the City of Kenmore, the Donovan Family – Owners of Kenmore Camera approached OAC to perform project management services for their new camera store in early 2012 after 40 years at their previous location. In need of a space that would accommodate a large retail floor and multiple classrooms, the Donovan Family purchased a former grocery store building in the heart of the Kenmore Business District. The project scope of work consisted of a complete gut and renovation of the old grocery store building, only the building envelope was reused. OAC played a crucial role on the project by managing a strict budget and helping the Donovan’s make financially smart and risk-averse decisions.

The new store is a huge improvement from Kenmore Camera’s former space. One key design highlight on the project is the large open retail floor space allowing the Donovan’s to strategically place merchandise around the sales floor. Kenmore Camera remains one of the last operating family owned camera stores in the United States. Through guidance from OAC, the Donovan’s were able to get the best value for their dollar possible on the project enabling Kenmore Camera to begin business at their new store doing what they do best, being a successful, family run camera store.
