Project Overview

OAC managed the construction of a new Public Safety Building for the City of Kirkland. Annexations in Kirkland have added 30,000 new residents to Kirkland’s population. Consequently, the city needed increased jail space. Centrally located in Kirkland, the Public Safety Building optimizes police response times, reduces inmate transportation and housing costs, and provides increased parking for Kirkland Municipal Court.

The new, 105,000-square foot building adds forty beds to the city’s jail capacity, and includes enough room for a potential 30-bed expansion. The building also houses the new police headquarters and three new courtrooms.

OAC assisted the City of Kirkland with contract and bidding, project management, on-site construction management, scheduling and constructability review. This adaptive re-use project is LEED Silver project.
