Project Overview

OAC was hired to oversee the design and construction of Mason General Hospital’s Campus Renewal Project. Mason General Hospital, built a new surgical wing, expanded and modernized its emergency department and improved patient rooms and public areas. The project total cost is $37 million and a construction cost of $22 million.

The project involved remodeling every patient room over the course of the two year project schedule including an occupied ICU. A new surgical wing was constructed with operating suites to accommodate new technologies and provide improved recovery and waiting areas. The newly expanded and modernized emergency department increased the number of treatment rooms and provides waiting and consultation areas that promote privacy of patients waiting to be seen. Construction of a new MRI suite was completed within the vacated surgical department.

The project was completed 4 months ahead of schedule saving $120,000 in general conditions and AE fees when OAC negotiated a phased start of civil and demolition work prior to completion of construction bid documents.
