Project Overview

WSU has created an iconic Visitor Center which ties the campus architecture in with the City of Pullman and the Palouse Region. This relatively small, but essential project for WSU is being delivered via design-build to capture the creativity of the design and construction community while assuring on-budget delivery.

Despite concerns by some industry professionals including members of the PRC, the OAC-prepared RFQ netted fifteen statements of qualifications resulting in three very creative solutions by the regions premier designers and contractors.

OAC assisted WSU with the entire procurement process including the development of the PRC application and interview presentation, as well as the development of the RFQ and RFP for the project. This continued through the management of the design-build process throughout design and construction.

Constraints of the project are as follows:
> Limited budget
> Small constrained site
> Limited schedule
> Fairly new procurement strategy for WSU
> Owned by WSU and built off-campus in City of Pullman
