Reimagined for the modern learner
When the Centralia School District set out to reimagine their 1968 high school, safety and flexibility were top of mind. Through a successful bond initiative and raising local funds to match state grants, the district got the green light to remodel and fully modernize their school. At an enrollment of 1,050 and a 97% capacity, the high school desperately needed updates and increased spaces to allow students to flourish. OAC readily provided project and construction management, including alternative delivery (GC/CM), selection of design and construction teams, and owner’s representation from start to finish to deliver on the district’s vision.
Taking down the building to its bare structure and rebuilding to meet the updated school modernization program was a challenge we were up for. Keeping students’ education at the forefront, we kept the entire high school operational and safe so that teaching and learning could continue without disruption. While sections of the school were built, we led the complex effort to place students and faculty in temporary portable housing on the site for one full school year. Sticking to an aggressive and accelerated schedule, we helped maximize state funding and minimize construction costs, saving over four months of construction.
