Adaptable learning environments for today and tomorrow

Lake Washington School District (LWSD) needed learning environments where students and the community could feel safe and welcome. Places that cultivated learning, provided functional and adaptable spaces for evolving education needs, and activated inspiration and creativity in students and teachers.

OAC collaborated with Lake Washington School District to secure $518M for their capital bond and levy programs to fund 13 projects to provide space for 3,000 students.

Focused on speed and efficiency, OAC led the strategic application of GC/CM delivery to bundle projects into single projects where the project type or proximity provided opportunities to advance delivery or reduce costs—among the first in the district to obtain agency approval. Our team of expert problem-solvers managed multiple, large-scale projects ranging from 79,000 square feet to 219,000 square feet, as part of this endeavor, including 6 GC/CM projects at 11 sites, 4 new schools, 4 replacement and enlarge schools, and 5 additions.

Even more, students and teachers love showing up for class. Connected to outdoor environments, with access to fresh air and abundant daylight, LWSD now has the facilities to match their passion for quality learning environments and experiences that guarantee students are future-ready.
