Providing state-of-the-art care for forensic patients

Washington state is advancing its vision of transforming behavioral health with the construction of a new 350-bed hospital on the Western State Hospital (WSH) campus, designed to provide modern, therapeutic care for forensic patients. This state-of-the-art facility will also serve as a Forensic Center of Excellence, delivering care in a safe environment that fosters evidence-based and proven practices. Additionally, it will collaborate with local academic institutions to drive research and innovation. The new hospital will complement most of the current structures on the WSH campus.

The Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) needed a trusted partner with a distinctive approach—one that prioritizes collaboration and innovative solutions tailored to client needs. OAC was selected to provide owner’s representative and construction management services, guiding the project through its multiple phases with a client-centered approach that stands out from traditional owner reps.

The new forensic hospital will integrate seamlessly with the existing WSH campus, enhancing its programs, services, and logistical support. Designed to serve both current and future patients, the new hospital facility will create a safe healing environment while also attracting top medical professionals.
