EvergreenHealth needed a place for new families to begin. This meant an upgrade to the family maternity center in EvergreenHealth’s Kirkland campus was needed. They consulted with a national Labor and Delivery Consultant to assess and compare their facilities with leading FMC services around the region.
Starting with an existing hospital wing, the design transforms 90,000 square feet into a modern maternity center, including renovations to the Labor & Deliver, NICU, and Ante/Post-Partum units. Through Lean design workshops, we gathered insight from staff to interactively test design options. The outcome provides a concept the re-imagines the experience for EvergreenHealth’s providers and patients.
Before design work began, over 25 key users were brought together: physicians, nurses, administrators, environmental services, IT, security, facilities, MEP consultants, and the contractor, to share their collective knowledge and provide insight to the design process. After a week of integrated design workshops, the team identified the optimum layout for their upcoming remodel. The finalized plan provides excellent service to patients, creates efficiency, and looks aesthetically beautiful.
With precise planning and phasing strategies, the facility has remained operational throughout the entire duration of construction. OAC led the team through alternative delivery selection, programming, design, permitting, construction, and remains engaged through occupancy and transitioning.
